Allegory is an app designed to visualize the dependencies and relationships between assets and workflows, typically visible only in code.
In 2020, as part of the Amsterdam studio argodesign, I worked on designing an app that visualizes schemas to display the dependencies and relationships between assets and their associated workflows, which are typically only visible in code.
The Challenge
In a typical CG-animated film, DreamWorks creates and manages over 500 million digital files. These files exist in complex data structures across numerous file types, making real-time changes by Technical Directors cumbersome and time-consuming.
My Role
I was primarily responsible for designing the visualizations that made these relationships clear and understandable. I analyzed the existing code used by the studio and explored how best to represent it visually. Additionally, I led multiple meetings with DreamWorks to identify which visualizations best represented their thought models and workflows, ensuring that the solution met their needs effectively.
